Getting ready to leave the office for some vacation days can be stressful when you have a lot of work still undone. Normally, I get all the necessary tasks finished before I leave for vacation. This time, it didn’t work out that way. A friend of mine said to me, “It will still be there when you get back.” I don’t really like this expression, because I don’t like to leave things undone. But, even without everything finished, I still went on vacation because the kids were out of school.
I took my kids to the zoo today. It was a beautiful day. It had rained all morning, so in the afternoon when we went, the zoo was nearly deserted – an introvert’s dream. It was great just relaxing and exploring the zoo with my kids. I felt like a kid myself. I realized that my work would still be there when I got back, and it was OK for my introverted, always-worrying, mind to just unwind and enjoy the moment.
