Why does my house always seem to know when I get a little extra money? I received a very needed tax refund and sure enough, both the water heater and the dryer went out in the same week. I was counting on this money for a different purpose but now the whole amount is going to fix these two items. Life has many challenges and struggles, but through them we gain strength.
I don’t know what I will learn from this current experience, but I do know I have gained strength from many other struggles. I have written about many of these experiences in this blog. Much of the success and strength I have received during my lifetime has come through meeting challenges. For many years I thought something was wrong with me.
Even as I became more successful, more and more comparisons came my way… “You should act like this” or “you should be more like that person.” Sometimes it could be painful and I would think “Can’t you see all of the hard work I am doing?” or “What is wrong with me?”
This caused much self-reflection and after a few years I realized that I was me and I bring my own unique gifts to the world. I have come to learn that there was nothing wrong with me, but rather what was wrong was that I did not understand my introversion. I realized that I was never going to be exactly like someone else, but I did figure out strategies to improve and be more successful by learning to understand myself. Without these struggles, I may not have come to this new level of self awareness, happiness, and success.
Don’t fear the struggle, but learn from it as you move through it. You will come through it stronger and better.
